International Society was founded in 2011 by a group of expats who wanted to make the social side of life for internationals living in Denmark more fun. With support from the Herning and Ikast-Brande Municipalities and their shared Business Council, it has grown into an amazing community that helps internationals feel at home.
We create events where you can build your network, make friends and have a great time. Our community and our events are open to everyone, not only internationals, så vi håber at se mange danskere (we hope to see many Danes)! Most of our events are also family friendly.
If you are looking for a diverse group of great people with lots of awesome events, you've come to the right place. To become a member, all you need to do is sign up for an event. You can check out our upcoming events at the link above.
We look forward to seeing you at the next one and welcoming you into our community.
- International Society Board
International Society has allowed me to expand my circle of friends in my new home. It now includes friends from Poland, Denmark, Israel, Italy, Portugal, USA and Brazil, and these are friends I'll have in the future no matter where we live.
Monica - Venezuela
International Society is the best source for networking and I made some good friends. It is a complete package of music, love, dance, food, knowledge and adventures. Cook and talk is my favorite as I love being a chef. It is a place for new experiences.
Shreeja - India
It is an eye opener to meet new cultures and learn from them. After moving to Herning, joining International Society was a good way to build up a network. Danes can be a little tricky to get to open up. We are all in the same boat in that way when we arrive in a new place
Stefan - Denmark
Whether you arrived in Denmark last week or last year, you do not have to worry about the language barrier you encounter out in the Danish society. This is why I feel that groups like International Society are so important.
Rene - Venezuela
It is a great satisfaction to see new or regular members participating at an event and building a network, sharing their adventures and life in Denmark with others. It is a wonderful platform to meet and feel part of a group that can understand each other.
Corinne - France
The biggest eye-opening experience has been discovering just how many internationals are in this area. Through these new friendships I have learned a great deal about what it means to "be Danish" because I am able to see Denmark through the internationals' eyes.
Mark - Denmark
I strongly believe that events, which are connected to the Danish society, allow the internationals in the area a chance to become a part of that society. I want to feel a part; we want to be in the big picture.
